Program Guidelines and Requirements

Most programs do not require a university or college degree. Many include special introductory courses for beginners; advanced courses usually have prerequisites.

There are no restrictions on how many courses students may take during any quarter. Many programs allow students up to five years to complete their studies.

The certificated programs offered online by UCLA Extension have been approved by the UCLA Academic Senate. Students who satisfactorily complete all requirements for their selected program are awarded a certificate bearing the gold seal of the University of California.
